Consultation on the Future of Fire and Rescue Services in Scotland

The Scottish Government has released its consultation on the future of Fire and Rescue Services in Scotland.
On 12 January 2011, the Cabinet Secretary for Justice, Kenny MacAskill MSP, issued a statement detailing proposals to reform the police and fire and rescue services in Scotland. The statement outlined the Scottish Government's intention to consult separately, but concurrently, on future options for both the police and fire and rescue services.
On 10 February 2011 the Scottish Government issued the consultation document 'A Consultation on the Future of the Fire and Rescue Service in Scotland' which can be downloaded from the Scottish Government's website. The deadline for responses to the consultation is Thursday 5 May 2011. Lothian and Borders Fire and Rescue Board will meet on Friday 15 April 2011 to discuss its response to the consultation.
